Not mere facsimiles of the original text, Great Texas Books are entirely new editions designed for the 21st century reader of e-books.

We work hard to maintain the tone and character of the author's original work. The bulk of our editing is the mundane matter of commas and hyphens, gently nudging the text toward greater readability without attempting to achieve stylebook perfection. These books are themselves history, and we respect their heritage.

Great Texas Books is an imprint of Mockingbird Books, a Texana micro-publisher based in Boerne, Texas. Our plan is to create an affordable set of classic Texas books. A great Texana collection—the sort of collection that every public library and every Texana buff would like to have. When we're done, everyone will have access to exactly that.
